The world is at one of the scariest points in its existence and the powers that be, find it expedient to treat it as a political issue and not one of extreme national security. The nation of Iran, with its ambition to recreate the Muslim Caliphate is about to go nuclear and we bicker over travel sanctions and technology embargos. Russia has moved from covert to overt action to re-establish a new “USSR” and the hope, blood and treasure we invested in a Democratic Iraq is about to be flushed down the toilet.
On the issue of Iran, the left is hell bent on talking our way out of this situation and the right is too afraid of the left to overrule them. The left offers no policies or vision with respect to a re-emerging Russia and the right has looked in its eyes and seen “trust.” As for Iraq, we lost that war at the battle of Abu Ghraib, when we redefined humiliation as torture and branded our military as no better than the Fedayeen Saddam.
Now, with al-Queda, Iran, Iraqi insurgents and Syria blessing our elections in November, expectations for victory in Iraq have disappeared completely. And, why wouldn’t the whole of radical Islam cheer the results, when both incoming leaders in Congress are calling for our withdrawal in 4 to 6 months. How do you say “victory against the infidel,” in Farsi?
In their own words, the leaders of the incoming Democrat majority in Congress have stated that they want our military out of Iraq in the now time frame. To support this position, the mainstream media is conspicuously in full campaign mode, just as they were in the run-up to the November elections.
While the violence in Iraq is real and the killing horrific, it is the only news we receive from the region, and designed to support the “cut and run” case of the Dems. It is this intent of the mainstream media, to shape opinion and frame reality to conform to the talking points of the Democratic Party, that is most alarming. The media however, believes it carries no responsibility for the consequences of its actions, it is just “reporting the news.”
The Democrats have openly stated that they want us out of Iraq, soon. This is purely a political position and completely ignores the devastating results that would follow a premature military withdrawal from that nation. Should we leave Iraq prematurely, creating a security vacuum, the bloodbath that follows will be unimaginable. That blood will not only be on the hands of those who mandate the policy but their accomplices as well. Note to the MSM: You are not immune from blame.
It is beyond comprehension, how any “liberal” ideology could fashion a policy that will most certainly result in hundreds of thousands of needless deaths, simply to further their political ambitions. Yet, that is exactly what the Democratic Party, with the full assistance of the media, is fostering. No doubt, the media is rejoicing in their success to “lead the blind” down the electoral path last November. Now, bolstered by their new sense of power, they continue to mislead in their “campaign” to foster failure in Iraq.
There is no argument that the situation in Iraq is deteriorating badly. This is due in large part to the fact that our enemies have learned well, the lesson of political expediency and fickle American perseverance. They have fully exploited the “uber-liberal,” antiwar mentality and the political party it supports. Their reasoning: If Americans can not stomach the horrors of war, and blame their own for the carnage, why not use this weakness to the max. Further, if the whole of a political party, along with their accomplices in the media are intent on supporting the enemy, what a bonus!
The fire of the “Bush Doctrine” has been fully extinguished. It is only a matter of when, not if, we will exercise the “peace with honor” option. The last time we used that option, over a million people died as a result. At least that many will die and tens of millions more relegated to the harshest tyranny, should we choose to exercise the option again. For the faint of heart, the selfish and the politically expedient, that blood will be on your hands.
