While the article clearly proclaims that "communism had tyrannized and impoverished its subjects, and slaughtered them in the tens of millions" it also sites a 1999 BBC poll that accords this disciple of evil as the "greatest thinker" of the past millennium. The poll further suggests that "his work as a philosopher, social scientist, historian and a revolutionary is respected by academics today". The Economist clearly delineates their pernicious position by stating that because of this, they believe "Marx is still accorded respect".
The article is peppered with this type of schizophrenic moral message ending with "He [Marx] founded a faith. The economic and political systems he inspired are dead or dying. But his religion is a broad church, and lives on." This esteemed publication is, at least, terribly confused and, at worst, morally bankrupt. This ambivalence creates fertile social ground for our current crop of degenerate tyrants and their minions - bin laden, hussein, kim jong il and other lesser knowns - to extend their malevolent purposes.
Karl Marx's philosophical and political creation is concentrated evil. One only need read "The Communist Manifesto" once objectively to realize this. Marx attempts to legitimize the most base of human emotions - envy and hubris. Moreover, he states in painfully clear words that "despotic inroads on the rights of property" (that is to say individual liberty) are necessary for communism to be victorious.
Any philosophical/political movement that shamelessly uses the word despotic, can not be seriously and morally honored. Marx is willing to advocate tyranny in the most extreme degree to see his mad philosophy succeed. Having the historical clarity of 20-20 hindsight, we know the genocidal results of his disciples application of Marxism in Russia, China, North Korea and Cuba - the most prominent examples among many.
Openly applying despotism and tyranny as the answer to the unfairness of life has resulted in ocean's of spilled blood and pain. Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao and others attempted it. We know the results. Marx and his communist dogma must bear major responsibility for this. The latest batch of human monster is effectively attempting to replicate the same horrible model. Because of these realities, we must openly acknowledge that Marx was evil and deserves no honor.
The Economist has lost great moral stature because of their position in according this man any accolades - whether straightforward or passive. They have also reminded us of the great fall of classical liberal moral thought and action that once was the hallmark of eighteenth and nineteenth century England and Europe.
We can not allow ourselves and our nation to follow this dishonorable example. If America descends into this form of philosophical and political moral relativism, our species is in grave danger. Our culture of individual liberty and moral responsibility are the only barriers that hold back the dark forces of tyranny and serfdom. If we fall, the world will be consumed by a new dark age that will last a thousand years and cause pain beyond our imaginations.
The only way to prevent this is by perpetuating and spreading the great bounty of moral and material happiness that is the result of human freedom. This requires rational thought and courageous action. This is our responsibility. It is the greatest honor that can be bestowed upon us as human beings. Let us welcome it. Moreover, we must urge our misguided fellow human beings from England, Europe and across the globe to regain moral clarity and join us in this great crusade against tyranny.
