Lie To Me, Please!

R.V.Tucker

Are you one of those people who prefer being lied to rather than come face to face with ‘truth?’ Do you avoid news about violent crime against women and children? Do you cringe at the brutality of serial killers? In the Eastern Province of Van in Turkey (BBC news) Turkish shepherds watched as sheep jumped off a cliff, one at a time; if the 400 that died hadn’t become a cushion for the remaining 1,100 an entire village would have lost everything. As liberals and conservatives we call each other ‘sheeple’ and ‘kool-aid drinkers’ and its true, too many on both sides either believe they are always told the truth or don’t really want to know what the truth is. Truth can be very demanding; it forces us to venture outside the perimeters of that comfort zone we work so hard to build around ourselves. Nowadays the truth is just as illusive as a ‘lightening bug’ is to an excited puppy.

What is the role of news outlets and how much influence do they have on your daily life? When you read your newspaper or tune in to your favorite news outlet you expect accurate, reliable, unbiased and informative news but what if you are being misled, manipulated and even lied to by omission? Journalists are quick to point out corruption in big corporations and government but what about corruption within their own! We hear every day about ‘separation of church and state;’ how about ‘separation of political bias and journalism’ or if you don’t like that then lets have a choice between liberal or conservative bias.

Fox news, conservative radio and now the internet have come under attack for simply being an alternative to what is referred to as ‘mainstream news media.’ Fox news and Claudia Rosette were responsible for breaking the most important news story of the year. Mainstream Media has treated the oil-for-food program like the plague, corruption between Saddam, Chirac, Schroeder, Putin the U.N. and others has not been as important to the mainstream media as ‘who leaked the name of Valerie Plame as a covert CIA operative’ and that’s only important because they see visions of bringing down Karl Rove/Bush Administration (never mind the fact that its only a crime if she were a covert operative at the time and many people have said, she was not) The White House press core goes after Scott McClellan with the tenacity of ‘Rabid Rathers’ to make statements about Rove but we sure didn’t see that same tenacity when Ms Plame’s husband’s (Joe Wilson) credibility was under scrutiny. Now I read that Matt Cooper’s (the journalist who received Rove’s so-called ‘leak’) wife is Mandy Grunwald; media consultant and campaign advisor to both Bill and Hillary Clinton. I smell a conspiracy!

The internet is an integral tool for ordinary ‘voters’ like me who ask questions and seek answers and that scares the hell out of Hillary Clinton who for some time has been working on ways to silence internet journalists. Where are ‘screaming liberals’ when its liberals who plot to suppress ‘freedom of speech’ and a person’s ‘right to know?’ In this WorldNet daily article you will read about Hillary’s secret police and if this is all true Hillary makes Richard Nixon look like the mayor of Pleasantville, USA.

She and George Soros, as the two most powerful democrats, already control the liberal mainstream media and only Sean Hannity of Fox made time for Ed Klein and his book, ‘The Truth about Hillary.’ I haven’t read the book and didn’t intend to on the basis of references to lesbianism and the conception of Chelsea Clinton (I thought that was just too tacky) but I have since changed my mind. Gay groups seem to have a sixth sense about who is and who isn’t and I must say they are usually right. Having said that, Ed Klein is ‘not’ a right-wing smear merchant, he is ‘not’ a Kitty Kelly. He is a long time democrat and former editor of the New York Times and Newsweek who knows his way around democratic circles. According to Newsmax.com, Klein told WOR Radio host Bob Grant that Camp Hillary had more or less threatened talk shows with repercussions if they had him on and that most of his old friends in the liberal press had ‘knuckled’ under the threats. Ed Klein may be just one more example of long time democrats who recognize the dark side of their party and want no part of it. Klein says the internet and talk radio are directly responsible for his book still riding high on the New York Times best seller list. George Bush went through a barrage of books and my advice to Hillary is, “Stiffen that upper lip and take it like the man you want to be.”

Talk radio hosts and filmmakers have further angered mainstream liberal media by broadcasting their shows from various locations around Iraq.
