The Decision of Our Times

Vance McDonald

With the fifth observance of September 11th, 2001 fast approaching it is appropriate to objectively and critically review the world war against Islamist fascist jihadism. Unfortunately, progress is uncertain. And the source of the uncertainty is paradoxically the American people. Moreover, as the November Congressional elections loom the ambiguity is becoming pronounced. The American people seem confused as to which political party is better suited to effectively prosecute the war and achieve victory. Regardless, we bear the ultimate responsibility for defeating the Islamist fascist enemy.

The November electoral decision will determine whether humanity will move closer to tyranny and enslavement. And to be unambiguously specific, the American people carry the fate of civilization on their shoulders solely. Three hundred million Americans are defending the rest of humanity. So which political party is best suited to continue the prosecution of the war to defeat the genocidal likes of al Qaeda, Iranian Sharia theocratic despots and their evil followers? Is it the Republicans or the Democrats?

There are three primary macro-political belief systems that animate either the Republican or Democratic Parties: conservatism, paleo-conservatism or neo-leftism. Conservatism is a belief in several core principles; individual liberty constrained by Judeo Christian moral values, freedom of association and enterprise and the obligation to defend those immutable values. Paleo-conservatism incorporates the moral ethics of conservatism but also advocates international American isolationism. Neo-leftism is a utopian dogma tolerating or accepting Marxist economic doctrine, extreme pacifism, fashionable chic anarchism, coerced egalitarianism, multi-cultural moral relativism and unbounded belief in raw political power to somehow answer all societal problems.

Of the three ideologies neo-leftism is by far the most dangerous. Its followers advocate utopian appeasement of the Islamist fascists; a position that inevitably leads to the defeat of the free world. Conversely, conservatism is the most forward thinking position offering a victory only approach to this mortal conflict. The Republicans are primarily conservatives with a small vocal faction of paleo-conservatives on the fringe, i.e., Pat Buchanan (although he has been banished from the Republican Party.) The Democrats on the other hand are now overwhelmingly neo-leftists. Simply recall the virulent leftwing propagandist Michael Moore sitting in a place of honor with ex-president Jimmy Carter at their 2004 Convention. This is but one of many examples of the ideological decline of the Democratic Party.

A neo-leftist Democratic Congress would surrender the primary battlefield in Iraq allowing a major Islamist victory and an impregnable enemy stronghold and staging area. They would pressure our one ally in the Middle East, Israel, to stand down in their efforts to defeat Iranian and Syrian terrorist proxies such as Hezbollah and Hamas. And worst of all, a neo-leftist Democratic Congress would permit Iran to become a nuclear power. If that were to happen the entire free world would be held hostage enabling the Islamist fascists to begin the final phase of their plan for world conquest.

And let us once again clearly understand such a world. Americans and Jews would be exterminated. Homosexuals would be tortured thoroughly and executed. Non-Muslims would be branded as infidels and serfs. Women would be treated far worse than pet dogs are now treated in America. In short, the U.S. and the free world would be annihilated. Humanity would return to a tenth century existence combined with Nazi like tyranny, genocide, torture, want and misery. Civilization would be no more.

It is truly sad that the Democratic Party is now dominated by neo-leftist utopians. However, it is reality. They are incapable of responsibly managing national security. Ergo the Democratic Party can not control Congress. The Islamist enemy will cower if Republicans retain Congress. They will rejoice if neo-leftist Democrats prevail.

The dark legacy of September 11th demands that the American people defend liberty and civilization. This requires that Islamist fascism be defeated thoroughly. A conservative Republican Congress will enable that noble goal to be achieved. For rational Americans these profound realities leave a crystal clear choice this November. Let us choose wisely.
