Moderate Giuliani Is Not Hillary To Liberal Media’s Chagrin

Lee P. Butler

“So the most unlikely pairing of the presidential campaign is unveiled, with the Rev. Pat Robertson flashing a television-practiced smile at Rudolph W. Giuliani, the thrice-married, pro-abortion-rights former mayor of New York,” recently wrote Michael Powell in the New York Times.

Liberal media elitists are beside themselves over this new wrinkle in the campaign season.

Social Conservatives are not supposed to be endorsing Giuliani. As Mr. Powell wrote, Giuliani is ’pro-abortion’ and these Democrat campaign media representatives have invested themselves in destroying Giuliani’s possible candidacy using that template as their most potent political attack ad.

Now they’ve had to alter their strategy from trying to ‘divide-and-conquer’ by separating the Giuliani camp from social Conservatives in an attempt to create an impression that the two sides have to come together to defeat a larger enemy… Hillary Clinton.

Political cartoonists promoted by the ‘mainstream media’ had a field day with this concept,
as one in particular asserted Giuliani and Robertson had to team up to defeat Bill’s wife who they referred to as the ‘Devil’.

Other liberals in the media wrote in skeptical terms Robertson’s contention that many other issues were the focus in his decision to support Giuliani. The Baltimore Sun wrote, “Like many Christian conservatives who support Giuliani, Robertson suggested yesterday that other issues -- such as fighting terrorism, cutting taxes or reducing crime -- trump social issues.”

Then they quoted Robertson, "Rudy Giuliani took a city that was in decline and considered ungovernable and reduced its violent crime, revitalized its core, dramatically lowered its taxes, cut through a welter of bureaucratic regulations and did so in the spirit of bipartisanship, which is so urgently needed in Washington today," Robertson said.

These liberal media elitists prove their liberal/progressive position when they write that lowering taxes, fighting terrorism, and reducing crime is somehow the antithesis to supporting ‘social issues’.

How exactly does reducing crime not help American families socially?

How exactly is protecting American families from the real threat of terrorism not in the best interest of their social concern?

Of course, it goes without saying that only liberal/progressives have the fundamental belief that lowering taxes is a direct attack on the ‘poor’ and they never acknowledge the higher collected tax revenue by the government when you lower taxes because that is not the true liberal/progressive goal anyway.

They want to take more of your hard earned dollars so they can thump their chests about what they can do for individuals with that money, not simply have more money to use towards the betterment of society as a whole.

Seeing an opportunity to increase their attack potential on the man viewed by many as the most likely of all the Republican candidates to defeat Bill’s wife for the U.S. presidency, liberal media elitists are trying to use Giuliani’s friendship with former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik as attack ads.

Along with almost every ‘news’ report they produce covering the story they include a picture of Giuliani with Kerik. Kerik is being indicted for things that have absolutely nothing to do with Giuliani, yet their past association is the focus of the media ‘reports’ concerning Kerik‘s charged indiscretions.

How many pictures of Hillary Clinton and the convicted fugitive Norman Hsu together have appeared in major media publications recently?

Yet Hsu actually gave money to Clinton and is being included in an investigation of illegal activity involving campaign contributions to Democrats, in which Hillary’s camp gave up reportedly $800,000 that was associated with this endeavor.

Can you say bias?

"I have pointed out that I think I made a mistake of not checking him out more carefully. But when you balance that mistake against all of the successes that we had, and the reality that you make some mistakes and you make some correct decisions, I think the overwhelming record is a record of great success," Giuliani recently said at a campaign stop in Dubuque, Iowa, clarifying his association with Kerik.

Funny how the same people who defended former president Bill Clinton’s actions concerning his serial sexual harassment and philandering because they supposedly ‘had nothing to do with the job he had done as president’.

But now Kerik, who by all standards, did an admirable job as police commissioner is going to, by liberal assertion, destroy Giuliani through their association that produced positive results, because Kerik is in trouble for doing things that had nothing to do with the job he did as commissioner.

And that is without even including the fact that federal criminal Sandy Berger would be a member of the Clinton Administration and is currently active in Hillary‘s campaign.

The truly amazing aspect to the media’s compulsive desire to attack Giuliani comes from their constant litany of ‘moderate’ positions he has on the issues. It is supposed to be the candidate who is ‘moderate’ that the American people want as their leader.

Or so we’re told by the same media that is now attacking the very candidate who could best fit into that ‘moderate’ template.

Giuliani is the candidate that the ‘mainstream’ media should be in love with… again, using those same monikers they continually attach to him when describing him in their attack reports.

But, of course, Giuliani is not Hillary. That is something the American people are very thankful of and liberal media elitists will one day have to find an excuse for so they can report it as news.
